Kazakhstan is the splendour of mountain peaks, sparkling glaciers, quiet dusks in the forest, mysterious deserts, enormous rocky canyons, emerald lakes, fast running rivers, the poetry of sunlight, and of a unique flora and fauna.
Kazakhstan is the origin of one of the most ancient civilisations of the Eurasian continent, the birthplace of nomadic tribes, and the Great Slik Road runs some of its considerable course through it (1400 km).
Kazakhstan is the birthplace of the great thinker Al Farabi and the great poet and philosopher,the founder of Sufism, a famous prophet Khodja Akhmet Yassawi. There are as much as 27000 ancient monuments in the country. Kazakhstan is situated on the boundary of Europe and Asia. The geographical centre of the Eurasian continent is in Kazakhstan (at the crossing of the 78 meridian and the 50 parallel). Territory wise, Kazakhstan is the 9th largest country in the world, after Russia, China, the US, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, India and Australia. According to the 2010 census, there are 16 million 148 thousand people living in Kazakhstan.
The Republic of Kazakhstan is a Unitarian Presidential state which declares itself a secular, democratic, lawful and social state with the people, their lives, rights and freedoms its highest values. The Head of State is the President. The highest body of power is the Parliament with its two chambers, the Senate and the Majilis.
Kazakhstan`s economy is based on free enterprise and market economy principles. The policy of national economy creates all the necessary conditions for the social and economic development of the republic. The country prides itself on its vast reserves of natural resources and its boundless agricultural lands.
